Physical Activity Projects

Increasing opportunities for all to improve levels of physical activity was one of the recommendations of the Community Profile Report (1999). Since then the Trust has undertaken a number of projects with this aim.

Recreational Survey - In July  2002 the Trust undertook a questionnaire survey of the recreational facilities of Burnham. Nearly 400 children aged 8 - 15 took part from three schools: St Peters C of E School, Lent Rise Combined School, and Burnham Upper School. The results of the survey based on 376 completed questionnaires have been published  and may be viewed in full here.

Keep Our Park Clean Campaign

Following on from the survey In July 2002 when 350 young people aged 11 - 15 took part it was decided to hold this campaign in June 2003.  In the survey dropping litter, broken glass and owners failing to clear up their dog's mess had been the three most commonly reported antisocial activities in Burnham Park.

During the week commencing June 9th, Scoopy Doo and his friends were on patrol in Burnham Park talking to dog walkers and other Park users and encouraging everyone to keep the Park clean.

Summer activities for young people - In 2003 the Trust produced a booklet with details of many local holiday activities which was widely distributed through local schools and was also available on the website
