Specialist Services
There are many specialist health related services including Audiology (Hearing), Continence Advice, Dietetic Service, Podiatry (Chiropody) and Speech and Language Therapy.
If you think that you need help from a specialist service, your GP or nurse should be able to give you more information. They will be able to advise you about the various options and may refer you if appropriate. Some treatments are available on the NHS. If you are considering private treatment, always ensure that the practitioner is appropriately qualified and experienced in the particular treatment you require.
Complementary medicines and alternative therapies
These include treatments such as acupuncture, aromatherapy, chiropractic, herbalism, homeopathy, hypnotherapy, osteopathy, naturopathy and reflexology. Generally, these are not available on the NHS, however some GP's are also trained in complementary medicine.
If you are considering complementary
medicines or alternative therapies always make sure that the practitioner is appropriately qualified and
experienced in the particular treatment you require.
